Inspiration comes in many forms. Today my inspiration was Kate. A couple of days ago she started her own blog. And I felt the urge to get onboard. New computer. Afternoon nap time during which I'm trying not to sleep but looking for excuse not to clean either.
Before there was Kate there was Nikki. Who is childless. By choice. I admire her for this and many other reasons. And I live a little vicariously through her. Working in a university setting with oodles of opportunity to meet interesting people. And not trying to remember things for five other people that I've somehow become social director and memory keeper for. Not that I'm suggesting that I would want my life to be any different than it is, just that I see other possibilities. And the benefits that come with those other possibilities.
Before Nikki there was Lisa and Andrew. When they moved away from Andrew's parents and took their only grandchild with them, they began to carefully document Riley's life in blog format. Mostly amusing and definitely relatable to anyone living with a baby/preschooler/toddler. The Corcorans, who have recently grown to include Grace made me feel that perhaps I should be documenting my family's antics in a slightly more public forum than my scrapbooks and journals.
And then I wrote a silly little Christmas letter. Meant to amuse and inform. I was surprised by the multiple responses and suggestions that I continue to write. Novels. Children's stories. Newspaper articles. I'll start with a simple Blog.
So here I am. Beware. I am not as funny as some. Or a graceful as others. But I'm here and I have stories to tell.
